Nantwich glamour girl Sophie Reade supports Help for Heroes charity

29 Nov

SOUTH Cheshire glamour model Sophie Reade has shown her support for the Help for Heroes charity by sponsoring a soldier who plans to run from North to South Wales.

Big Brother celebrity Sophie, 21, from Nantwich, was the first to sponsor Corporal Michael Collins, 33, who returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan with the Royal Welsh in September.

Michael will be jogging Offa’s Dyke, the 177-mile Anglo-Saxon defensive line of earthworks stretching from the Irish Sea at Prestatyn to the Severn Estuary in the South.

With only a back-pack and a one-man tent, he hopes to complete the marathon in a week.

He sets off this Friday, November 12.

Michael said: “It’s going to be cold and tough but nothing compared to what the lads in Afghanistan are facing.

“They’ve been really touched by the way people have got behind the charity and this seems the very least I can do while I’m home on leave.”

Sophie is planning to take part in her second London Marathon for the charity in April and hopes to go out to see the troops next year.

She said: “I’m not a good marathon runner – in fact I had to walk the last 13 miles but I wanted to do my bit.

“It’s great what Michael is doing when he could be putting his feet up and enjoying a break before going back to Afghanistan.

“I’m only too pleased to become Michael’s first sponsor and hope more local people will do the same.”

Employment law specialists William B Rose, based on Welsh Row, are also sponsoring Michael and will act as a collection centre for donations.

Senior partner Bobby Ahmed said: “It’s extremely important to provide support for our soldiers because people often forget how they put their lives at risk to ensure our safety and maintain the freedoms we enjoy in our country.

“I feel it is our moral duty to provide ongoing support and do whatever we can to assist them in their rehabilitation.

“Help for Heroes is part of that process and I urge everyone to support this cause.”

Sophie Reade wants BB return

24 May

Big Brother’ nine winner Sophie Reade wants to go back in the house this year because she believes this series’ housemates will get better treatment than she got last year.

Sophie Reade has begged ‘Big Brother’ bosses to put her back in the house.

The blonde beauty – who won the series last year – is desperate to return to the Channel 4 compound for the final series of the reality show later this year.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the ‘Pimp’ premiere in London’s Covent Garden last night (19.05.10), she said: “I’d go back in if they asked me, why not? I’ve seen the house it in the papers – they’ve got a much better house – we didn’t get anything last year!”

Since winning series nine, the glamour model has posed for numerous magazine spreads and recently finished filming a ‘Big Brother Come Dine with Me’ special – where her culinary skills are tested against previous winners Brian Belo, Brian Dowling and Nadia Almada.

However, Sophie seemingly didn’t do very well as she managed to burn her simple supper.

She added: “I cooked burgers and chips and nachos – I burnt the nachos but it was nice.”

Meanwhile, it has been revealed bosses on the show are planning to install the Zoltar the Fortune Teller machine – which turned Tom Hanks from a child to an adult in his iconic 1988 movie ‘Big’ – into the new house to make contestants’ lives hell.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “Nothing comes for free in that house. If ‘Big Brother’ decides to grant a housemate’s wish then they will be told it will have consequences. It’s going to be an exciting addition. No one will know what to expect when Zoltar calls. We want to make this final series full of shocks and surprises.”

Sophie Reade eyes Playboy Mansion stay

24 May

BUSTY Big Brother winner Sophie Reade says she wants to live in the Playboy Mansion – but not as one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends.

The reality TV star confirmed last month that she would be starring in the US Playboy edition later in the year.

The 30GG-chested soon-to-be-a-centrefold star admits she may find it hard to leave the Playboy Mansion – but ruled out any romance between her and The Hef.

She said: “I’d love to live there, if Hugh Hefner said I could stay there I definitely would.”

“I wouldn’t be his girlfriend but I’d live there on his premises, he wouldn’t know I was there, I could live in one of them little rooms he’s got.”

Which sounds kind odd to us.

Glamour model Sophie Reade

GLAMOUR model Sophie Reade breathed a huge sigh of relief when she reached the finishing line of the London Marathon.

The 20-year-old, from Nantwich, who shot to fame when she won reality TV show Big Brother last year, took part in yesterday’s 26.2-mile race to raise money for The Children’s Trust.

She decided to compete in the annual endurance event in memory of her sister Rachel, who died of meningitis in 1980, only five days old.

It took Sophie seven hours, 15 minutes and 51 seconds to complete her first marathon, and she told The Sentinel she wasn’t in a rush to do another one any time soon.

She said: “I thought it would take me around six hours so I don’t think I did too badly.

//

“I pulled something at the back of my knee so I was struggling for the last few miles.

“I was determined to cross the finishing line, though. When I got tired or felt like giving up I just kept thinking of the children I’m raising money for and that gave me the inspiration to keep going.

“I’m really glad I took part but I think it will take me a while to recover.”

Sophie hopes to have raised around £4,000 for The Children’s Trust – a charity based in Surrey which provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injury.

Police sergeant Philip White was pounding a different beat as he completed the marathon in aid of Children With Leukaemia and raised more than £2,000.

The 45-year-old, from Leek, completed his first marathon in three hours and 48 minutes, and said it would be his last.

He said: “I have ticked that box now. I have done it and I am really pleased, but I don’t think I will do another.

“I can raise money for charity in other ways. I have never run like this before and just followed the 24-week training package. I already play rugby and hockey and always found running really dull.”

Cancer sufferer Mike Norcross could not join the 36,000 runners on the starting line so instead completed the race on a cross trainer in his living room, while watching the competitors on the television.

Mike is one of only 12 people across Europe taking part in a pioneering drug trial in his battle against a rare carcinoid tumour in his bowel.

He had aimed to equal the time of the winner of the men’s elite race, who finished in two hours and five minutes, but stormed ahead to finish in one hour, 54 minutes.

Mike, aged 45, who lives in Alsager, said: “I started off at the same time as the men’s elite race and followed them on the television.

“I started at the pace I am used to and after about half an hour I was feeling OK and thought I would just about do it.

“But after an hour I speeded up and just beat the winner. I wanted to raise around £250 for the Christie Hospital in Manchester where I am being treated. I have beaten the time and the total of money I was aiming for so I am absolutely delighted.”

NANTWICH celebrity Sophie Reade has revealed how losing a sister to meningitis has inspired her to run the London Marathon.

Model Sophie, who shot to fame by winning Big Brother last summer, wants to raise £20,000 for The Children’s Trust by completing the Virgin-sponsored marathon later this month.

And she told how she chose the charity in memory of her sister Rachel who died at the age five from meningitis.

It also provides rehabilitation for children with acquired brain injury.

She said: “I recently visited The Children’s Trust in Tadworth, Surrey and met some of the children.

“It was very inspirational to meet the children. I was so impressed with their determination to undertake daily challenges that will help them to rebuild their lives and return to their homes and schools.

“training is going well and I’m busily preparing for the world’s most famous running event, with regular training on the treadmill during the week and up to 12-mile runs on the weekend.”

Gary Lineker Warns His Son Off Sophie Reade

Celebrities at the Mayfair Hotel, London, UK. 17/04/2010
Having been spotted out on a string of dates together, we were under the impression that Sophie Reade’s relationship with Gary Lineker’s son was going rather well. But according to reports George’s dad isn’t too keen on the idea of his son romancing glamour models – he recently told the 18-year-old to cool off his relationship with the Big Brother star while he concentrates on his A Levels, which he’ll be taking over the summer.

Apparently Gary reckons Sophie has a couple of sizeable distractions *nudge nudge wink wink* (sorry we couldn’t help ourselves), which are taking George’s attention away from his work. We think he might be right.

Meanwhile George is currently grounded in Tenerife at the moment (what with the volcano thingy), so last night we spotted Sophie going out all by herself to the May Fair hotel where we also bumped into Sheridan Smith and her Legally Blonde co-star Duncan James, who were looking very cosy together indeed…
